Our policy positions
Our policy position statements are crafted with a deep commitment to the principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and Te Tiriti o Waitangi. They guide our advocacy to ensure that every child and young person can grow up in an environment where they are safe, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential.
Our advocacy is firmly grounded in the aspirations, insights, and experiences of mokopuna themselves. By listening to their voices, we strive to ensure our advocacy reflects their needs and dreams.
These position statements are more than just guidelines; they are a testament to our ongoing effort to advocate for a society that truly supports and nurtures its youngest members. We believe that by upholding the rights of mokopuna, we are investing in the future of Aotearoa New Zealand, a country where every mokopuna can live their best life.
"Participating in What Matters to Me" outlines the importance of ensuring that every mokopuna in Aotearoa New Zealand has the opportunity to voice their opinions and engage in activities that are meaningful to them.
"Growing Up Safe and Well" outlines how Aotearoa New Zealand can create nurturing environments free from harm, providing all mokopuna with the care, protection, and opportunities they need to reach their full potential.
"Strong Start in Life" emphasises providing every mokopuna in Aotearoa New Zealand with the best possible beginning, ensuring they are loved, safe, and well-cared for from birth to build a foundation for lifelong health, learning, and wellbeing.
"Thriving Families and Whānau" focuses on creating environments where all mokopuna in Aotearoa New Zealand feel safe, loved, and supported, with families and whānau having the resources they need to nurture and support mokopuna growth and development.
"Youth Justice: Fair and Supportive Systems" explains how Aotearoa New Zealand can create a youth justice system that treats all mokopuna with respect, provides holistic support, and helps them build a positive future while ensuring community safety.
