Mana Mokopuna - Children and Young People's Commission does not support this Bill.

Long-term, systemic change is needed to reduce youth offending and enable safer communities and better outcomes for whānau and their mokopuna. Reducing youth offending and re-offending rates requires a broad-spectrum approach that is consistent with children’s rights – one that addresses the root causes underlying the offending, and acknowledges cultural considerations and the specific vulnerabilities experienced by mokopuna who offend.
